Media Strategist

We are looking for a media professional to join our team who has planned and purchased online and offline media for at least 3+ years.

The Media Strategist is part Account Executive, part Media Planner and Media Buyer. If you are personable, a strategic thinker, a clever problem solver, enjoy working directly with clients and vendors, and get fired up executing effective cross-channel media plans, this could be the perfect fit for you.

Location & Compensation

Location: Hybrid (See Below for Description)
Type: Full-time
Compensation: Base Salary + Bonus + Benefits
Base Salary Range: Starting salary $75k+ (commensurate with experience)

Required Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 3+ years experience planning and buying digital (DSPs, online video, paid social) and/or offline (OOH, TV, Radio, Print) media.
  • Demonstrated skill using DSP’s (both managed and self-serve platforms)
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects using different media channels simultaneously
  • Great energy and positive attitude
  • Strong speaking and writing skills in English
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good IT skills / technically savvy
  • Well-versed in various media metrics and KPI’s
  • Strong, demonstrated skill using Google Ads & key self-serve social media platforms
  • Experience with other media planning or buying platforms
  • Understanding pixel placement, trafficking digital creative formats and working with rich media
  • Project management experience
  • Experience using syndicated research applications

What You’ll Do

As a Media Strategist, your primary objective is to work with assigned clients and vendors to create the most successful media solutions within budget. You are part Account Executive, part Media Planner and Media Buyer. 

Day to day, you’ll work directly with clients, managing their requests and building their media plans. You will lead the execution of approved media plans by working with all internal and external partners. You will drive media strategy, negotiate placements, operate ad buying platforms, traffic buys, monitor delivery & performance, update systems and generate reports as requested.

Our clients like to use a mix of online and offline media channels, so it’s ideal if you can demonstrate familiarity with both.  

You’re also our primary point of contact for the media vendors you work with, so be ready to utilize your established network of vendors and platforms that you know and trust. This will be key to your success as a TEC Direct Media Strategist.

Strong analytical skills are needed so you can interpret the data and provide solutions. Strong communication skills are also required so you can present media plans and reports.

Part of our culture is the constant desire to learn and help others.  You will need to be both a student and educator of media, training junior staff to plan and buy media. 

Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where employees work mostly remotely. We have office space in Chicago, and you may choose to work from there as often as you like. There will be specific tasks, training, client or vendor meetings that will require you to be in the office from time to time. 

These Skills/Experience Would Make You Stand Out

  • Experience buying BOTH online (DSPs, online video, paid social media channels) AND offline (OOH, TV, Radio, Print) media channels
  • Google Analytics and/or Google Ads certifications
  • Some experience with copywriting for Search campaigns
  • Some digital creative development skills

We plan and buy media for agencies, brands, and artists so they can generate awareness, acquire new customers and drive sales.
