Turn Blue is the second Black Keys album release for which TEC Direct Media has provided media planning & buying services. The agency also provided these services to support the release of El Camino in 2011.
The Black Keys’ eighth studio album debuted at number one in the US. This is the highest chart debut yet for the the guitar/drum duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, whose previous album, El Camino, debuted at number two in the US in 2011.
Producer and keyboardist Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton’s influence is heard most on Turn Blue, the third Black Keys album in which he has had a large role in the production. Turn Blue was described by Rolling Stone as “The best, most consistently gripping album the Keys have ever made. Turn Blue is as apocalyptic, in its way, as that Clash epic [London Calling]: loaded with risk, distress and payoff.”
Drummer Patrick Carney was quoted saying, “We are always trying to push ourselves when we make a record—not repeat our previous work but not abandon it either. On this record, we let the songs breathe and explored moods, textures and sounds. We’re excited for the world to hear Turn Blue.”
